Girls Who Code Announces Collaboration with New York Life Investments; Launch of Exchange Traded Fund Focusing on Closing Gender Gap in Tech

NEW YORK, NY, October 21, 2021– Girls Who Code is today proudly announcing a new collaboration with New York Life Investments and IndexIQ focused on the launch of Engender Equality ETF (EQUL), an innovative exchange-traded fund.

The Fund, part of New York Life Investments’ expanding family of Dual Impact offerings, has been launched in alignment with the mission of our organization, with an investment thesis reflecting our initiatives, research and programs and a commitment from New York Life Investments to make a contribution equal to ten percent of the Fund’s management fee to Girls Who Code on an ongoing basis, supporting the important work we are doing in our Clubs programs which are key to engaging our youngest students.

“We’re thrilled with the opportunity to partner with New York Life Investment Management as we work to close the gender gap in tech by 2030,” said Tarika Barrett, CEO of Girls Who Code. “At Girls Who Code, we understand that the best way to build a pipeline of women in the tech industry is to foster a passion for computer science for our youngest students. The generosity from NYLI will allow us to better support our Clubs programs: free after-school programs for 3rd-12th grade students that can be hosted either in-person or virtually. Together, we’ll bring sisterhood and community to girls around the world and provide them with the tools and confidence they need to make a difference.”
