Girls Who Code 2025 Annual Report

Our 2025 Annual ReportFive by Five, highlights a year of forging new paths and elevating youth voices. In a year defined by great change as AI becomes more prevalent, Girls Who Code announced its Strategic Plan, Five by Five, to reach 5 million girls and nonbinary youth in the next five years. Five by Five is a bold plan to evolve our programming and equip more girls, women, and nonbinary individuals with the skills they need to thrive in the tech of tomorrow.

Girls Who Code was just named a winner of Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas for Five by Five. This annual recognition honors bold and transformative efforts that tackle the world’s most pressing issues. We are honored by this acknowledgment of this initiative’s power to change lives.

Five by Five anchored a year of highlights that are featured in our Annual Report, including:

  • We’ve now served 860,000 students globally, including 425,000 college or career-aged alumni.
  • Over 85,000 students engaged with our AI coursework and learning opportunities. 
  • We launched CodeJam, a platform for students in grades 3–12 to learn coding.
  • We launched Upskill Series, reaching more than 1,500 women and nonbinary individuals ages 18+ with career-focused programming to help them navigate the tech job market.
  • We launched Pathways, a flexible online learning program that served more than 7,000 students.
  • We released three new reports exploring young women's perspectives on generative AI, the early career journeys of our alumni, and the factors holding women back from cybersecurity careers. 
  • We produced culture-shaping campaignsSpeak On It and Write What’s Next, that reached over 177 million young people.
