Girls Who Code is now accepting crypto! We’re changing the game and using cryptocurrencies to help close the gender gap in tech. Your gift will ensure that girls continue to have access to our educational experiences, programming, and our incredible sisterhood. Because when you teach a girl to code, she’ll change the world.
How do I donate cryptocurrencies to Girls Who Code?
You can donate Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many more cryptocurrencies on our website. Select the type of cryptocurrency you would like to donate from the dropdown list, then enter the amount, your name, and contact information. Once you reach the third step, you will receive a unique wallet address that can be used to complete your donation.
Is my cryptocurrency donation tax-deductible?
Yes, the IRS classifies cryptocurrencies as property, so cryptocurrency donations to 501(c)3 charities receive the same tax treatment as stocks. Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct it on your taxes. Please contact your tax or financial advisor for more information. If you provide an email during the donation process, you will automatically receive a tax receipt after donating.
Can I donate with a cryptocurrency not listed above?
At this time, we only accept cryptocurrencies listed in the above drop-down. If your cryptocurrency is not listed please contact [email protected] and we'll reach out to The Giving Block to see if they can help accommodate your cryptocurrency donation request on the backend.
